NWEG Meeting at EndUser 2004
Chicago Marriott O'Hare
April 15, 2004, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Attendance sheet was circulated.  (The list of attendees is posted at the end of the meeting notes.)

Lynne Bidwell, NWEG Secretary/Treasurer was the stand-in chair.

Janet Higgins, Idaho State University, agreed to take the meeting notes.

I.  Introductions were done by each in attendance.

II  Changes to the the Bylaws will be voted on at the Regional Users Group meeting in May 2004.

Proposed changes:
- way the Bylaws refers to Endeavor
- less specific about naming the states listed in the Pacific Northwest
- registration fees to be waived for officers = token compensation

The NWEG conference will be on May 20-21, 2004, at Clatsop Community College, in Astoria, Oregon.  Bidwell reported that she had received 25 registrations as of April 13.  The NWEG conference conflicts with several other conferences this year, so it has effected attendance.

III.  Nominations were solicited for the Chair-Elect.  The Chair-Elect position is a two-year commitment.  The Chair-Elect must be elected at the NWEG conference in May.  No nominations were put forth at the meeting.  Dale Burke said that he may be interested in 2006.  (Note - Cindy Kirkpatrick, WIN - Washington Idaho Network, approached Bidwell after the meeting to let her know that she would be interested in running for the position of Chair-Elect.)

IV.  Treasurer's Report
Bidwell opened a NWEG checking account at USBank.  The balance as of April 12, 2004, is $657.  This balance does not include the checks received for the regional users group conference.  Expenses for the upcoming regional users group conference are expected to be low, so NWEG is in good financial shape.

V.  Locations for the 2005 NWEG Regional Users Group conference, using a rotation schedule:

NW = Western and Central Washington
NE = Northern Idaho, Eastern Washington, Montana
SW = Oregon
SE = Southern Idaho is up for the rotation for 2005

The NWEG conference needs meeting rooms, a computer lab for hands-on training.  The attendance has been averaging 50-60 people.  The goal is to achieve an attendance of 100+.  Barbara Glackin, Boise State University, will investigate the possibility of BSU hosting the NWEG conference in May 2005.

The May timeframe keeps the momentum going from the annual EndUsers conference in Chicago.  Fall is too chaotic for academic institutions.  The NWEG conference planning committee will negotiate lodging discounts.  Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging.

Topics for 2005:
- bridge between III and EISI
- UB - Universal Borrowing
- call slip
- want practical hands-on for front-line support staff, e.g., circulation, e-reserves, MARC Edit, each module, add-ons, media server, citation server, third party products, Unicode
- EISI presentation
- Upgrading servers

V.  Webpage additions or changes?  No comments.

VI.  Other?

- WIN is bringing Alan Manifold to Gonzaga this Fall for two sessions.  Registration will be $175.
- WIN is in the process of setting up a UB test server.  They will soon be moving the live database to the UB test server to test.  Idaho/Whitworth/Gonzaga will test.  ($25,000 for software and Oracle license.)

VI.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
