Annual Business Meeting

Call to Order: Kathleen O’Connor, acting Chair, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.

Election of officers: O’Connor announced the slate of candidates.

Chair: Jennifer Dysart, Green River Community College, Auburn, WA
Term of office is one year.

Chair-Elect: Taylor Stoneback, Highline Community College, Des Moines, WA
Term of office is two years.

Secretary/Treasurer: Lynne Bidwell, Lewis-Clark State College, Lewiston, ID
Term of office is two years.

O’Connor called for nominations from the floor. There were no nominations.

Motion: Move to cast a unanimous ballot for these wonderful people. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

There was a discussion about when the term of office should begin. It was agreed that the term of office should start today, May 16, 2003.

Next Annual NWEG meeting: O’Connor opened the floor to a discussion about when the next NWEG annual meeting should be held. The group decided that summer is out because of vacation conflicts. Would it be more advantageous to hold the meeting in fall or spring? For the community college group, it doesn’t make much difference if the meeting is held in fall or spring. If the meeting were held in spring, it would be wise to avoid scheduling it around Mother’s Day.

There was a consensus of opinion that it would be a good idea to hold the meeting after the Voyager EndUsers Group annual meeting in Chicago. If the meeting were held after the Voyager EndUsers Group meeting, it would give the attendees a chance to ask follow-up questions. The group would like to have the NWEG annual meeting in different locales on a rotating basis. It was agreed that the NWEG Board should take this under advisement.

The content of the 2004 NWEG meeting should be based on the feedback from the evaluation forms from the current meeting and from feedback solicited from the NWEG listserv. A signup sheet for the NWEG listserv was distributed to the group. Bidwell volunteered to follow through with adding new names to the listserv.

Motion: Move to hold the NWEG 2004 annual conference in spring, after the Voyager EndUsers Group annual meeting. The meeting date and location will be selected at the Board’s discretion. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Topics for NWEG 2004:

- Media scheduling
- Topics generated from the Voyager EndUsers Group annual meeting
- Poster session
- Content for front-line staff using Acquisitions, Cataloging, Circulation, Media Scheduling modules.
- Recap Voyager EndUsers Group annual meeting. Break it down into special interest groups.
- Consortia relationships

NWEG Checking Account: Bidwell will open a NWEG checking account at U.S. Bank. Dysart and Stoneback will be co-signers on the checking account.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 a.m.
