Session I

Presenters:  Francesca Lane Rasmus and Layne Nordgren
Francesca Lane Rasmus is Director of Technical Services at Pacific Lutheran University (Tacoma, WA).  She has worked at PLU for the past six years, and previously at Earlham College (Richmond, IN) and St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN).  In addition to her work in Technical Services, she manages the library’s electronic resources, and is assistant system administrator for the Voyager system. 

Layne Nordgren is Director of Instructional Technologies/Library Systems at Pacific Lutheran University. He has worked at PLU for the past 24 years in a variety of positions in Circulation, Media Services, Library Automation, and Instructional Technology. He currently manages the Digital Media Center and is System Administrator for the Voyager system, providing technical support for the Voyager system, resource authentication, and web-based applications.

Presenters:  Brenda Warrington and Paula Foster

Brenda Warrington has worked at the Foley Center Library of Gonzaga University for the past 7 years. She is currently employed as the Graphic Design/Web Specialist for the library. 

Paula Foster is a Project Manager for the Washington-Idaho Network (WIN), located at Gonzaga University.  WIN is a consortium of libraries throughout Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho, and the Foley Center Library is a founding member and the central site for WIN.

Sue W. Kennedy is currently a staff member of Pierce College Libraries in Lakewood, WA. She will earn her MLIS from the University of Washington in June 2004.

Teaching Users to do Effective Searches in Voyager
Presenter: David W. Rash

David W. Rash has been a Public Services Librarian for Instruction at Everett Community College since 1990.  He is a part-time History Instructor at Everett Community College teaching the WAOL Western Civilization course via distance education.  Formerly he was a Research Librarian for the Boeing Technical Libraries and Assistant Director for Coos Bay Public Library.
3:45 pm - 4:45 pm Acquisitions: Continuations / Firm Orders
Presenter:  Fran Budde

Fran Budde is an Acquisitions & Cataloging Specialist at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. She is responsible for continuations ordering and renewals for all media types, and the cataloging of print and electronic materials. She worked as a cataloger for five years before taking on acquisitions six years ago.

John Greer is the Systems Administrator for the The University of Montana Libraries. The University of Montana Libraries consist of 7 university libraries, one tribal college library and one medical library.  John has worked for the Mansfield Library for 7 years and has recently added the overall systems administration duties to his list of responsibilities.

Presenter:  Dale Burke
Dale Burke is currently serving as the Voyager System Coordinator for the Washington State ORCA Consortium, a consortium of 16 community college libraries in Washington State.  Dale has been the Technical Services Librarian at Edmonds Community College since 1987.  Dale worked at the University of Washington Libraries for six years prior to working for Edmonds.  He also worked for two years at the University of Wisconsin Libraries in Madison before relocating to the Seattle area.

Serials Management using Voyager
Presenter: Lynne King
Lynne King has been a Library Technician at Highline Community College for 12 years. She has been managing the serials collection for 12 years. She currently works in the Technical Services Department of the library, where her job also includes MARC cataloging.

Presenter:  Jennifer Dysart

Jennifer Dysart is the systems librarian (among other things) for Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington.  She's been working with Voyager since 1999.  Although she grew up in Kansas, she's happy to be settled in the Pacific Northwest near her extended family.  "I love the rain and the flora.  The fauna I could give a miss--or are slugs fauna?"

11:00 am - 12:00 pm Circulation: ILL and Voyager
Presenter:  Darlene Rangitsch

Darlene Rangitsch graduated from the Highline Community College Library Assistant Program in June of 1994.  She was hired in January 1995, as the night lead in the circulation department at Highline Community College Library.  She moved to the day shift, and now opens the library, does interlibrary loans ( ILLs ), and works the circulation counter.  She also does shelf maintenance of the main and reference collections, and order supplies for her department.  She is a Library tech III, and she has been doing ILLs for four years.

Rachel MacDonald is a reference librarian at Green River Community College's Holman Library. She also serves as the library's webmaster and the resident customizer of WebVoyage.
